the return
The water laps at the shore
I am lucky
to have returned
I once thought of my dying freedom
in foresight I saw the tempest which would carry me
I knew the time would be long
before I would feel the wind kiss my cheek
and the crisp sea air whistle its song to me
Yet here I am finally free
in the mind and body who are complete to me
and I walk along a shore to the building I have seen
so many times before
and now this institution has become mine
where my mind can run its course like a horse bred to win
and the flowers of autumn just exist
as they have always been
the only thing that changes
is our mind
the world is forever waiting
patient
for the traveling soul to return
full of tales and some scars
earned upon the long road
home
